/rate 25000-42000 = makes u sometimes less lag
/cg_drawfps 1 = drops an fps counter
/cg_fov = makes u better field of fiew, choos bettween 80-120
/cg_drawGun 1 =normal weapon 2= Ghostweapon 0= no weapon
/cg_gun_fovscale 0 = would make ur weapon slim, depares on /cg_fov
/com_hunkmegs 128-300 =how much memory is used
/m name =sends pm to person, use /m {A it will send to all clanmember
/snaps 20-40 =dont know what they doo...lol
/cl_maxpackets 30-100
/cg_atmosphericeffects "0" = makes no rain or snow

doh got banned i got that once to for the setrate command it was to high they said turn it down
hehe i also got warned about listening to leafs420 guy they sid he crazy watch out for him Suspect

Also thanks for the commands i can never remeber those they are a definite helper

The maxpackets is CL not com.

Does anyone know what it means when something is 'latched' at for example 128

yes some servers alow only -105 fov, like some noquarter

if you are the referee/admin operating within the console, g_gravity [number] sets the gravity on a map and g_speed [number] will change how fast folks move.

"latched" means that the value stated is what you told ET to change the cvar to, but the said cvar (variable or setting) is read-only during ET run. Such variable change was just written in your config and it will be change don ET restart.

More detailed description: some ET cvars can only be set or changed on ET start, before the game initializes fully. Such settings must be done in either ET config, autoexec.cfg file or on commandline.

The biggest problem is that if you change a cvar using console, it will be written into your config for the game mod you're in (eg if youre playing etpub youll be in etpub game mod "scope") - but only config for the startup mod (etmain by default) will be used on startup. This is a big issue for things like com_hunkmegs - if you change it after joining etpub server, it will be written into your etpub config file and thus never changed and will stay "latched" forever - because whenever your etpub config will get loaded, it will always be too late and the cvar is already read-only.

Well that's exactly it my hunkmegs stay 'latched'. I see now why. So I should change it whilest in the mod but not on a server?

You should change it just after you start ET. That way you'll be in the mod you start ET in...won't you? Just do the change before you join any server after et startup - joining a server is the most common way to switch clients game mods.

zeman, what does 'cvar' mean exactly? is it just a type of variable, any variable, all variables, globals only, local only or what? i've seen that term many times over the years and never really understood it.

i did look it up in a google define and got this: http://www.google.com/search?q=define%3A+cvar&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1 . so, is that what it is and how is it used in ET?

Couldn't find a good explanation why they're called cvars, but essentially

cvar is an ET game variable, the kind you can set in config or console. In other words, cvar is a variable that is visible to the gamer, not just internal program variable.

Rate > 25000 is not usefull.
In theory higher is better but the quake 3 engine is practically limited to 25000.
